THE GUILD SINGERS

Coming Together in Song

We are a friendly, professionally-led choir combining high quality singing with fun rehearsals. We sing a wide range of music and support local charities through our concerts.

ABOUT THE CHOIR

The Guild Singers is an established SSA choir based in Milton Keynes. We focus on part-singing and our repertoire includes music from classical to contemporary, including traditional folk and music from the shows. We generally hold two concerts a year, raising money for local charities when we can, and are often asked to perform at other events in and around Milton Keynes.

Visit our video page to hear us sing.

Our members are as varied as our repertoire but we come together each week for the sheer delight of singing wonderful music!

We rehearse on Monday evenings at Christ Church, Stantonbury from 7:30 to 9pm.

MEET OUR MUSICAL TEAM

The choir is led by our experienced Musical Director, Catherine Rose.

Catherine joined The Guild Singers as their Musical Director in September 2021. She studied conducting at Bristol University and Canford Summer School. She had a long association with the Bedfordshire Music Service and the Bedfordshire Music Trust, as a conductor and tutor, and has conducted a range of amateur orchestras and ensembles. She became conductor of the Open University Orchestra in 2017 with whom she has pursued a varied programme, including the 50th Anniversary Gala Concert with Dame Evelyn Glennie as soloist. Primarily a horn player, Catherine also studied singing with Geoffrey Connor and was a member of the RCM Chamber Choir under Peter Phillips. As well as The Guild Singers, she also conducts the Weston Underwood Singers, a mixed community choir based near her Olney home.

The choir is accompanied by our talented pianist, Helen Nightingale.

JOIN THE CHOIR

We welcome new members so please get in touch if you would like to join us. There is no formal audition for our choir but you do need to be able to “hold a tune” comfortably. Catherine will arrange to meet you informally and listen to your voice in order to place you in the correct voice part. We sing from music so an ability to sight-read is helpful but not essential as we do “note-bash” our pieces. We pay termly fees to cover our costs on a “not for profit” basis. Please contact us on theguildsingers@gmail.com for more information. We look forward to singing with you!
